Tilmok is a staple food in the Philippines' Bicol region due to abundance of crab and coconut. It is steamed crab meat with coconut. The first order of preparing this delectable dish starts with the mixing of coconut meat and the crab meat together. Garnish is added after the main ingredients are mixed. The mixed "meats" are put inside banana leaves and then steamed. This delicious dish is popular among locals and even foreigners.


How to Make Tilmok

Ingredients
3 cups chopped coconut meat
4 to 5 cups shredded crab meat
banana leaves (for wrapping)
onions and garlic
2 calamansi (squeezed)
salt and pepper to taste

Directions
1. Mix the coconut meat with the crab meat.
2. Add in the onion and garlic.
3. Stir in the calamansi and mix all ingredients well.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
5. Wrap in banana leaves and steam for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the ingredients fuse together like tamales.
