Chicken Manchurian is a popular Mumbai dish that even the Chinese in the mainland haven't heard about. However, it's on the menu of the roadside Chinese food hawker or the specialty Chinese restaurant in any fancy five-star hotel in India.

Chicken Manchurian is a popular Mumbai dish that even the Chinese in the mainland haven't heard about. However, it's on the menu of the roadside Chinese food hawker or the specialty Chinese restaurant in any fancy five-star hotel in India.


This has to be the epitome of Chinese food in India. It is nothing but deep-fried batter-coated chicken cubes in a gravy made from onions, green chilies, garlic, vinegar and soy sauce. Usually eaten with rice, it never fails to get a sigh of contentment from those partaking of this gastronomic oddity.
