The Boh Loh Baau, literally means "pineapple bun", is considered to be the holy grail of what Hong Kong baking tradition is all about. This luscious pastry is firm on the outside and topped with lovely sugary pastry that is amazingly crunchy and tasty. It's patterned top literally looks like that of a pineapple where it got its name.

It's everywhere in Hong Kong. It is so popular and ubiquitous that overseas Chinese have to import it so whether you visit a Chinese bakery in Vancouver, Taipei or Sydney, you will definitely find one. The pineapple bun is a perfect pair to any milk tea, especially if you have it with a buttered variation - Boh Loh Yaau.
