Batar Da’an (or Batar Daan) means “boiled corn” in Tetum, one of the two official languages of Timor-Leste with Portuguese. It is made from squash, corn and mung beans which are traditionally served with rice. Mung beans are very popular in Asia, particularly in Southeast Asia.
