Do you know why Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year especially in the Philippines? It is because of Christmas delicacies sold on the streets like the favorite Puto Bumbong. Traditionally cooked in miniature bamboo chimneys along the roadside stalls, these chewy purple snacks is a must have during this time of the year.
Made from purple mountain rice, puto bumbong is steamed in bamboo tubes then typically served with butter, panocha (brown concentrated sugar), and generous sprinkle of grated coconut.
